Description

Tylosin, a macrolide antibiotic, is active against particularly Gram-positive bacteria, some Spirochetes (including Leptospira); Actinomyces, Mycoplasmas (PPLO), Haemophilus pertussis, Moraxella bovis and some Gram-negative cocci. After parenteral administration, therapeutically active blood-concentrations of Tylosin are reached within 2 hours.

 

Indications

Infections caused by micro-organisms susceptible to Tylosin, like e.g. respiratory tract infections in cattle, sheep and pigs, Dysentery Doyle in pigs, Dysentery and Arthritis caused by Mycoplasmas, Mastitis and Endometritis.

Contra-indications

Hypersensitivity to Tylosin, cross-hypersensitivity to macrolides.

Side-effects

Sometimes, local irritation at the injection site may occur.

 

Dosage and administration

For intramuscular or subcutaneous administration.

Cattle 0.5-1 ml. per 10 kg. bodyweight daily, during 3-5 days.
Calves, sheep, goats 1.5-2 ml. per 50 kg. bodyweight daily, during 3-5 days.
   
Dogs, cats 0.5-2 ml. per 10 kg. bodyweight daily, during 3-5 days.

 

Withdrawal period

Meat 8 days
Milk 4 days

 

Storage

Store in a dry, dark place between 8°C and 15°C.

Description Tylosin is a macrolide antibiotic with a bacteriostatic action against mainly Gram-positive bacteria like Campylobacter, Mycoplasma, Pasteurella, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus and Treponema spp

Indications Tylosin Injection is indicated for use in the treatment of bovine respiratory complex (shipping fever, pneumonia) usually associated with Pasteurella multocida and Actinomyces pyogenes; foot-rot (necrotic pododermatitis) and calf diphtheria caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum and metritis caused by Actinomyces pyogenesin beef cattle and nonlactating dairy cattle.
In swine, Tylosin Injection is indicated for use in the treatment of swine arthritis caused by Mycoplasma hyosynoviae; swine pneumonia caused by Pasteurella spp.; swine erysipelas caused by Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae; and acute swine dysentery associated with Brachyspira (formerly Serpulina or Treponema) hyodysenteriae when followed by appropriate medication in the drinking water and/or feed.
Contrab indications Hypersensitivity to Tylosin.
Concurrent administration with penicillines, cephalosporines, quinolones and cycloserine.
Dosage and Adminis tration For intramuscula injection;
The recommended dosage is 5-13 mg per kg of body weight.
Calves, Ovine, pig, dog and cat: Each time dosage:0.025-0.065ml per kg of body weight, twice a day, continuously for 5 days
Poultry: 0.125ml per kg of body weight, once a day, continuously for 5 days
Calves: Do not inject at the same spot quantity of solution greater than 10 ml. If a big animal requires p.e 30 ml , then 3 injections of 10 ml at 3 different spots should be done
Pigs, dogs and cats: Do not inject solution more than 5 ml at the same spot
With drawal times For meat: 10 days.
For milk: 3 days.
Precaution: If tylosin meet iron, copper, aluminum, tin etc may reduce their activity.
Do not administer simultaneously with cardiac glycosides, due to the raise of their concentration in blood..
Tylosin has antagonism with chloramphenicol and lincomycin ,do not simultaneously use
